|
Autistic
Spectrum Disorder |
A person who
has Autism is also said to have an Autistic Spectrum Disorder, as
each person will be affected by their autism in a different way. Together,
this gives a ‘spectrum' (range) of autism. |

ASDAN is a nation
organisation that provides a range of authorised curriculums for schools
and colleges to use. We use their ‘Transition Challenge' curriculum
at the secondary school, and their ‘Towards Independence' curriculum
at the FE Department. |

A new term that
is replacing MLD (Moderate Learning Difficulties) as the descriptor
for the MLD special schools across East Sussex. It is felt that GLD
more accurately covers the range of special educational needs that
these schools now meet. |

term we used for our Primary School. Of course, we no longer have
a Primary School, as it combined with The Downs School in September
